Launched in 1999 by LaRian Finney and Jay McCutcheon, Jazzy Summer Nights began as "Jazz in the Alley" at Larry Stewart’s Place on Calvert Street. Over the years, it evolved into a monthly mid-week concert series, becoming a signature summer event in the Mid-Atlantic region.
The series has featured an impressive lineup of national and regional artists, including Raheem DeVaughn, Kindred the Family Soul, Go Go Museum All-Stars, Lady Alma, DJ Quicksilva, and Dru Hill . These performances have drawn audiences from as far as New York and Richmond, highlighting Baltimore's role as a cultural hub.

Jazzy Summer Nights has graced various locations throughout Baltimore, each adding its unique flavor to the experience. From its early days at Charles Plaza and War Memorial Plaza to stints at Hopkins Plaza, Horseshoe Casino, Pier Six, and the Baltimore Peninsula, the series has showcased the city's diverse venues . In 2025, it returns to its roots at Hopkins Plaza, with a grand finale planned in front of Baltimore’s City Hall.
